CARNIVALS & CAROUSELS OPEN FROM 11/1/25 TO 1/1/26!
We welcome writers of any background and experience level. If you’ve got something that fits our theme, we want to read it. *Must be 18 years or older to submit.*
We are currently looking for Flash Fiction, Short Stories, and Poetry.
-Limit flash fiction to 1000 words.
-Keep short stories under 3000 words.
-Please limit poetry to 40 lines or less.
-Submissions must be sent in 12pt. Times New Roman and double-spaced.
-Creative works should be polished and ready for publication, although we do edit the works before publication.
-Please keep your submissions PG-13. No erotica. No excessive gore.
-Please preface with trigger warnings when appropriate.
-No use of AI.
- Please attach your submission in an email as a .doc/.docx file with the title of your piece as the name. We blind select the pieces so please do NOT put your name anywhere in the Word doc you submit.
-Include a 100-word author bio in a separate .doc/.docx file.
-No simultaneous submissions. We try our best to respond to everyone within 2 weeks of the sub window closing.
-This is a non-paying anthology, and there is no fee to enter.
Author Rights: As an author with The Cabochon Review, you will always retain the rights to your work. We just ask that you not publish your submitted piece anywhere else for six months after the publication date.
Works accepted may be used by The Cabochon Review, Lindsay Schraad Keeling (Editor), and Mickey Black (Editor) in order to promote the publication. The author will be appropriately credited in promotions.
Agreement: By submitting your piece to The Cabochon Review, you are agreeing that you read the guidelines and rules of submission. You acknowledge that the piece submitted is an original work, written by you.
